Stamford Power Ventures (SPV) is an energy infrastructure development company specializing in renewable energy and other technologies to optimize the efficiency, reliability, and resilience of energy infrastructure. We focus on the structuring, development, financing, and construction of alternative energy, including the solar, wind, fuel cells, energy storage, and microgrid networking.

Stamford Power Ventures is an affiliate company of Haugland Group, which through its subsidiaries can offer turnkey solutions with a deep skillset in electrical and civil capabilities. We build electric transmission and distribution lines, substations, inverter stations, and power generating facilities. Our civil expertise includes road and bridge construction, design and build of complex foundations, and extensive experience in challenging geotechnical conditions.

Haugland Group also has the balance sheet and flexibility to make direct investments in projects under development or construction.

Stamford Power Ventures Leadership

Anastasia Song

Anastasia Song is the Director of Stamford Power Ventures, focusing in the areas of project structuring and financing. Earlier in her career she was an Investment Banker with Credit Suisse First Boston and an advisor in the energy group at private equity firm, Warburg Pincus. Ms. Song also served as CFO of a $2.5 billion electric utility.

Ms. Song was Assistant Secretary to New York Governor George E. Pataki in his first administration, where she focused on energy issues. The Governor appointed her to the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where she served for six years, and chaired the Finance and Audit Committees. She also served as a Director of the New York State Independent System Operator (NYISO), which operates and administers the wholesale power markets in New York State. Ms. Song was previously an Independent Director of Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ: PLUG), a developer of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells.

She has an MBA from Fordham University, a BA from Bryn Mawr College, and has passed the CPA examinations.

Joseph (JJ) Haugland
Senior Project Manager

Within his role with SPV, JJ Haugland is responsible for identifying technology applications and development opportunities, ultimately coordinating the resources for execution. In addition to his functions at SPV, Mr. Haugland is an Executive for Haugland Group's affiliate electric and civil design and construction companies.

Mr. Haugland has experience in a broad range of construction and engineering areas, including substations, underground and overhead electrical transmission projects, and major heavy highway and bridge projects. He maintains close working relationships with major industry firms including: LIPA, PSE&G, PSE&G Long Island, LIRR, National Grid, Noble Wind, Fuel Cell, the Village of Rockville Centre, NYSDOT, New York Power Authority, Port Authority of NY & NJ, the Nassau County Department of Public Works, and the Suffolk County Department of Public Works.

Mr. Haugland holds a BS in Civil and Construction Engineering from the University of Central Florida, and he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Local 1049 IBEW (Trustee), Associated Builders & Contractors, and the Water Environment Federation.

John G. Bates
Principal Advisor

John Bates has an extensive background in all aspects of power generation development and financing, with an emphasis on Solar and Wind projects. He served as COO of Sunnova, responsible for commissioning, installation, operation and maintenance of solar systems. Prior to Sunnova, he held various positions at NRG, including senior vice president of Strategic Alliances for NRG Renew LLC, where he was responsible for development of ~1.5GW of both distributed generation and utility-scale solar; and raised U$300 MM in equity and U$700 MM in debt from IFC and FMO to develop renewable energy in the Caribbean.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Bates was the chief operating officer of Nuclear Innovation North America, a joint venture between NRG Energy, Toshiba Corporation and the Shaw Group where he raised US$1,500 MM in equity to develop two 1.3GW nuclear units.

Mr. Bates received an undergraduate degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and earned his MBA from the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer College of Business.

James Kennedy
Complex Electrical Installations and Estimating

Jim Kennedy brings decades of experience in managing a wide range of heavy industrial and utility electrical projects, including utility infrastructure, water treatment facilities, refineries, breweries, transit and a wide range of switchyard and electrical interconnections.

He has worked on storm hardening/resilience for major generating facilities, installing exit feeders, high voltage breakers & CT/PT, system control protection and wiring.

Mr. Kennedy's renewable project experience includes turn-key installation of utility-scale solar farms, beginning with ground clearing and the development of roadways through the installation of screw piles, panel racks, solar panels, inverters, and tie-in to the utility substations. He also brings experience with HVDC submarine cables, inverter stations and related interconnections.

Mr. Kennedy completed a degree in Construction and Architectural Engineering at SUNY Farmingdale, and the Electrical Apprenticeship Program for Local Union #25. He has undertaken advanced training in Photovoltaic Installation and Maintenance.
